Dynamics of Erosion and Deposition in a Partially Restored Valley-Bottom Gully

چکیده

Gullies are sources and reservoirs of sediments perform as efficient transfers runoff sediments. In recent years, several techniques technologies emerged to facilitate monitoring gully dynamics at unprecedented spatial temporal resolutions. Here we present a detailed study valley-bottom in Mediterranean rangeland with savannah-like vegetation cover that was partially restored 2017. Restoration activities included check dams (gabion weirs fascines) livestock exclosure by fencing. The specific objectives this work were: (1) analyze the effectiveness restoration activities, (2) erosion deposition before after using high-resolution digital elevation models (DEMs), (3) examine role micro-morphology on observed topographic changes, (4) compare current channel previous studies conducted same area through different methods spatio-temporal scales, quantifying medium-term changes. Topographic changes were estimated multi-temporal, DEMs produced structure-from-motion (SfM) photogrammetry aerial images acquired fixed-wing unmanned vehicle (UAV). performance satisfactory control erosion. Check effective favoring sediment reducing lateral bank Livestock promoted stabilization headcuts. implemented measures increased notably deposition.

Gully Erosion after Wildfire

Predicting runoff and erosion from watersheds burned by wildfires requires an understanding of the spatial structure of both hillslope and channel drainage networks. We investigate the small-scale and large-scale structures of drainage networks using field studies and computer analysis of 30-m digital elevation model. Topologic variables were derived from a composite 30-m DEM, which included 14...

Gully formation in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica: multiple sources of water, temporal sequence and relative importance in gully erosion and deposition processes

We report on a decade of fieldwork designed to determine the conditions required for erosion of Mars-like gully channels in the McMurdo Dry Valleys (MDV) of Antarctica. We have outlined the major factors in the morphological evolution of gullies in the Inland Mixed Zone of the MDV: (1) the distribution of ice sources; (2) the temporal aspects of ice melting; and (3) the relative significance of...

The Gully Erosion Effect On the Environment

The paper contains data about the destructive effects of gully erosion on the environment. It provides general information about the gully erosion in several countries around the world including Romania and is considered a case study for a river basin located in the Semenic Mountains (Bârzava drainage area). The case study is based on the following assumptions: the presence of different types o...

Investigation of Some Methodologies in Providing Erosion Maps of Surface, Rill and Gully and Erosion Features

Some methodologies were compared in providing erosion maps of surface, rill and gully and erosion features, in research which took place in the Varamin sub-basin, north-east Tehran, Iran. A photomorphic unit map was produced from processed satellite images, and four other maps were prepared by the integration of different data layers, including slope, plant cover, geology, land use, rocks erodi...
